[Vwdiesel] brushes

Try a place that advertises to rebiuld altenators and starters.
They'll have a bin of brushes.  Find something similar in size,
and then use a belt sander, or whatever you have available, to 
machine it to a good fit.

Fundamentally, the brushes are cheap, but expect to pay $1 to $5.
