General consensus is to pretty much stay away from ATF. Friction
modifiers actually LOWER the anti-friction characteristics of the oil
thus resulting in lower lubrication of the pump and injectors (did I
get that right guys?) : ) It has been used however as an occasional
additive to clean injectors or seal a leaking pump, once or twice a
year at most.
With 80K on the engine (?) then the injectors are at about 1/2 to
3/4 of their life. Some cleaning (diesel purge maybe?) might be
benneficial. Listen to the tailpipe and see if it's smooth or missing
at all. New injectors have really made a big difference from time to
time.
In my experience more fuel as long as it's not dumping black smoke,
actually increases mileage. Adding a turbo helps then adding more
fueling helped more. At least the way I drive. : ) My guess is that I
spend less total fuel time at full throttle, getting up to speed.
