  General consensus is to pretty much stay away from ATF. Friction 
modifiers actually LOWER the anti-friction characteristics of the oil 
thus resulting in lower lubrication of the pump and injectors (did I 
get that right guys?)  : )  It has been used however as an occasional 
additive to clean injectors or seal a leaking pump, once or twice a 
year at most.  
  With 80K on the engine (?) then the injectors are at about 1/2 to 
3/4 of their life.  Some cleaning (diesel purge maybe?) might be 
benneficial.  Listen to the tailpipe and see if it's smooth or missing 
at all.  New injectors have really made a big difference from time to 
time.
  In my experience more fuel as long as it's not dumping black smoke, 
actually increases mileage.  Adding a turbo helps then adding more 
fueling helped more.  At least the way I drive.  : )  My guess is that I 
spend less total fuel time at full throttle, getting up to speed.
