Sandy Cameron asked :

How would broken up car windows work as a tumbling medium?

A:
Any crushed glass will work just fine. I used same type of glass in the
cement mixer and it was ok.

At the risk of being attacked for spreading VOO-DOO nonsense. Here is my
version of the all time best all around most practical and best dollar for dollar.
TUMBLER setup.:
Get a wringer washer --- and put the tumbler drum on the rubber rollers.
there is no modification needed. Just remove the top part.

I got mine in 1963 and it is sitting outside all year --- and still works. They have
an oil filled gearbox and 1/3 HP motor. This one is a THOR (Eaton's ?)
and it is made like a brick crapper.
Originally my intentions was to mix paint. Worked like nothing else. But it
works equally well for turning a tumbler drum. For paint I throw a handful
of balls in the can.

The finest (best) media for c-rusty bolts get old carborundum stones and
crush with a sledge.Would you believe I got my carborundum from a 26000
HP grinding stone setup ? ---put your money on the line. From great northern
grinders --- ask NORTON. Norton makes some great abrasives
for guys like us ( I own no stock ) They are sold at Wal-Mart as ????
sponges ? try one they are 1" X 4" X 2.5" blocks of foam.

Old paintcans makes good el'cheapo drums for tumbling. Hagar.
