I have in mind old VW 's -- so there.

I have in mind old VW 's -- so there.

The word today is " Viscosity" so aside from vane-pump what else is affected ?
The fuel regulator valve is (adjustable) And the orifice in outlet banjo is fixed.
So heavier diesel less flow ergo more pressure in pump. VW demands # 2.
diesel for those reasons. The timing piston allso gets sloppy with times.
The cumulative effect of all these things . Gives a lot of us problems.

So as Loren observed " Hillbilly tuning" advances pump to compensate for
the missing dynamic timing advance.Plus all the other factors.
In simple Ham language we tune for maximum signal , not from numbers on
the dial. -----And it works.

Hagar.

may be continued.
