I am willing to help you if you post all the detail here. Parts numbers on
pump and diagphragm ---year of engine ---model  --- etc.

Next time you have it off -- measure lift of cam. and post.

PS:  I agreed so much with  Sandy Cameron that I did not feel I could
ad anything.  The loose screw trick has to be used on many gasoline
pumps as well.
