1980 diesel pickup 1.5 NA new gasket blowing black smoke. injection pump 107A

I checked the pump mark with the cam and flywheel marks.. It's on - thankfully NOT 180 off, whew!

Thanks to Loren and everyone about identifying my yellow-dot pump. I reset the timing to 1.16 and it purrs and
puffs, and then dies. Hmmm.. reprime pump it purrs and puffs and dies. repeat. repeat again. Check fuel
filter.. It's empty! prime filter, prime pump, purrs and puffs and runs longer and dies.. Checked lines, no
visible leaks, tank is 1/3 full. Maybe my filter has a leak, I'll keep priming and messing with it later this
week. I'll also top off the tank in case the lower intake is clogged.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a turbo eventually.. While we're on the pump identification, does anyone have
the pump #s for turbos or (in the far off horizon) 1.9L pumps? Roger? Loren? Hagar?
I've got (last #'s):

107A yellow-dot from 1980 1.5L NA
107AG from 1981 1.6L NA

It still gives me lots of black smoke on acceleration. We'll see what happens when it warms up, head
retorqued, compression checked and driven 1000 miles or so.
