Why is the diesel so much more fun and challenge ?

Because on a gas job the spark (ignition) takes place at a predetermined  place every time.
Cold --- hot --- bad fuel --- anything.

A diesel ?  now that's a different kettle of fish. ( diesels work on fish-oil).

The ignition point moves all over the place ----according to many variables.

Now you may understand why it is an "ART"  to really make them sing.

Think of a piechart  and up at the top is a slice left and a slice right of 12 o clock.
The temperature in combustion chamber --increases fast but it decays fast too.

The ignition slice becomes small when the frost is on the pumpkin --and bigger if
you visit death valley.

Obvious ?  yes but very important to understand.    In crankshaft degrees a 1 degree
change makes a lot of difference.

One thing for sure --when you meet a really happy Rabbit ---you will know ---I guarantee.

PS: wish I had made a tape of the Rabbit on AD-100 -- that would convince you. NO marbles
no harsh diesel sound ---a deep throaty mellow sound , so help me god.And did she have 
power ? without smoke or what ?. That was the day I figured I would be a diesel wizard some
day.
