Great story Val that's the American "SPIRIT". For the Beginners and Newbies
let me say why I talk so much about LIMPING HOME.

My first diesel (car) was a GM pissup 1/2 ton V8 "ROCKET".

I had nightmares about towtrucks following me all over the place --- The AAA
guy in town told me he was following me at times. Yes I had to pay him 60
dollars to get home. ---why a nightmare ? it happened at a time when the IRS
had demolished my finances.
The history of the introduction of small diesel cars to America is full of tow trucks.
How many of you got towed ???? and how many did you hear of , that got towed ??????.
The rabbit is a beauty in this, that it fits on a small trailer.

My best limping home story ? ---Landrover , fall of 1970 way up in the interior of British
Columbia. Motorola Alternator falls apart and shorts out. Yes I rewound the thing
with a hank of plastic coated wire and got home. ---no shit.
It was done on a high snow-covered plateau with many witnesses.

For those of you who are electrically clued in ---I wound it single phase
to charge up a reconnected Ni-Cad 1.2 Volts per cell. After charging
I reconnected the cells to 12 volt.----and here I am with a story of limping
home with a grin on my face.-----and money in my pocket from a bet that
I could not do it.
Love that "ANNABELLE" 1960 Series 2 109 " wheelbase 3/4 ton. 1.25L
gasser.

The most surprising thing about this story ---was that the swine's actually paid up !.

How did I get it started ? jacked up one rear wheel and kicked tire in high gear
with my foot. (I had no power for the starter -OK?)

Yes I will send you picture of the Ni-Cad if you like.

Hagar.
