[Vwdiesel] Outer CV Joint Binding

A new outer cv joint that I installed is binding with circlip that
retains the wheel bearing.  Rotating the wheel produces a nasty
scraping sound.  I just figured out that this new joint has different
dimensions from the original one, and that this causes the joint to
bind with the circlip that retains the wheel bearing. 

The new joint is made by GKN (Lobro) as was the worn one that it
replaced.  The offending dimension is the step in diameter just
inboard from the spline.  On the old joint the diameter of this step
is 1.965" and on the new joint it is 2.088".

The new joint is stamped with:  C 152 1001 98 015 02 05 22

Has anyone run into this problem?
