understand what is going on.

No need to apologize.  I am just trying to figure out what is going
on.  It is not infrequent that I run into problems like this problem
with the cv joint.  The thing is that I don't work on this stuff
enough to get real good at it.  So I compensate by proceeding
carefully and asking questions.

This is what I still have not figured out.  Last week I checked with
several suppliers of Lobro cv joints, and found that for the 83'
Rabbit, they supply the same joint that I have with the larger
diameter step.  If this is the case how can it be that they don't get
lots of complaints about problems like I am experiencing.
