yeah, and antifreeze was not made yet, so options were very limited for
winter driving. I saw a T that was cooled with a calcium chloride solution
in winter. Not much block left. It rotted from the inside out.
I recall seeing literature suggesting grain alcohol (ethanol) be mixed with
water, and the ratios, might have been in the Model T owner's manual. with
the lowered boiling point, I can't see the coolant strength lasting long, if
they all boil as easily as my T anyway...
I've always wondered if a thin oil wouldn't work well... looks like I might
be trying it. Only problem I can see is the viscosity in winter... hmm...

I actually used diesel as coolant in my 1929 Durant (gas) jallopy in 1949.
worked fine.
I cant remember if I had to replace the hoses in the spring. There were only
2. No heater.
