So try about the smell of the exhaust. We engineers
seems to have a keen sense of smell as well.
I call a good burning diesel, "sweet diesel"
I think is smells good when the motor is fresh and
burning properly.

That is the one thing I noticed just about an hour
before my 1.9na bit the dust, the smell of the exhaust
had changed as it was running at idle waiting for
everyone to pile in after a Penn State game and go
back to the campground. Well, we didn't make it the 7
miles back to the camp ground and they had to walk the
last 1.5 miles. Not a good day at all.
