[Vwdiesel] Oil leak from thread?

yes. One product is made by loctite, but on small threads (fine pitch) the
thread strength is pretty poor. I've used it, and anything less than a 3/8"
size coarse thread leaves a pretty weak thread with not much for holding
power. It's only metal filled epoxy after all.
The thread release agent is oil. Pretty blue oil, but oil nonetheless. I'm
thinking you would get similar results from well cured JB weld and a light
oil on the threads, or some spray silly-cone.

There's something similar to JB Weld out there that is a thread rebuilder.

You put a release agent on the threads, clean up the stripped metal,
apply the stuff and put the bolt/whatever in and wait for the next day.
Part unthreads and all is basically fixed! A friend with a shop gave
the stuff a try and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.
