[Vwdiesel] starting a freshly installed engine ??

I fill the injection pump with ATF.  I'm not a regular user of the stuff
in fuel but it is easy to pour and clean.  Works good for starting and
cleans the injectors a bit at the same time.  Very nice offer from Erik
to help you out on this one!

I second the idea of towing it to start it. Absolutely
my favorite way to do it. No wear on the starter, the
engine can be turning over at running revs, and the
oil pump will be going the entire time. (Vs. the on
off thing of cranking with the starter and then
waiting for it to cool down.) If you need a hand I
could probably even help, since I'm in the area. I
live just outside Gresham. Just let me know. Not that
I'm a pro, but I'm pretty good with diesels and have
been working with them for many years.
