weight changes harmonic frequency so it vibrates at a different frequency
out of range of engine vibration.
Damping works too, adding silicone goo etc. but still acts to change the
range at which things vibrate, or reduces the amplitude.
Rad on my Mack is like this-long finned tubes with rubber spacers every so
often. Lose the spacers, the tubes vibrate, and eventually leak. Add lots of
spacers, too much air gets blocked, no vibration, but no cooling either.

Ah just timre to slip this in :o)

Back to the rad corrosion problem... OK so recoating
internally, a corroded rad is probably not feasible due to
uneven deposits; but what about 'plating' from the outside
where the areas of deposit can be controlled by positioning
of sacrificial plates. (Rad removed and submerged in an
electrolyte.) A book from the 1890's on electroplating talks
about brass plating and copper plating amongst others.
Why bother? Well for my Quantum the TD rad is hard to comeby
and I'm already using my  spare :o(

Anyone any knowledge on vibration damping theory? I don't
mean 'balancing' but a system where a weight absorbs the
vibrations I think by vibrating instead... I feel an
experiment with a ruler on the edge of a table coming up
8OD)
