Good! Please don't give up on me, I mean well :) I'm still hacking out
here. Did buy a '84 na engine Saturday that is my back up back up plan if
I don't get anywhere with 'ol smelly soon, but that will lead to some more
questions that I don't want to introduce yet. I did try backing off the
fueling a little at a time on my engine and any change in it has an
immediate bad affect on the idle and power. It runs best when I put it back
to where the paint marks are that mark the original position. I will pull
it all the way out and do as you suggest before I do anything else. I tried
changing pump timing a pencil mark at a time each way but It is still using
oil at a ridiculous rate. I'm talking full to off the stick in 100 miles
now, and it is not leaking. It is parked waiting for me. I made a setup
to compress the valve springs last night to get the keepers out. Practicing
on a junk head I have and now I know how the seals and guides work (I
think). If I don't see anything obvious I'll pull the head.
