The swapping of my 1.6 n/a from a 90 diesel jetta into a 90 gasser jetta is
almost complete.
I removed the cat from the gas exhaust; can I run the 2 gas mufflers with my
diesel engine, or will that result in too much back pressure? The donor
diesel
car had shot exhaust.

Won't be too much.  My factory Passat exhaust is more mufflers than pipe.
removal of everything from downpipe back, and going 2-1/2" with a single
dynomax is really nice.

I have a wire from the w terminal on the alternator. Anyone know which wire
that
would be on the gasser motor? Does the gasser tach get its signal from the
coil, or the rotor?

A gasser counts the sparks I'm afraid.
Roger has some stuff on his pages that should help you with this. You need
to generate 2 pulses per crank revolution somewhere- hall effect sensor, mag
pickup and butchered HEI, something like that to get pulses for the gas tach
to count.



I still need to pull the gas tank and replace with the diesel tank, as well
as
remove fuel pump and reservoir from system.
Also need to swap glow plug system
The inner CV joints for the diesel were slightly smaller in diameter
compared to
the gas ones.

Like 90mm vs 100mm ones?
That is so easy to change flanges out of the car.....
A little tougher in the car, but no biggie, requires a seal kit for each
side.
You could use the gasser inner CV joint rather than change the flange as
long as length and splines are the same (should be I think...).

My previous concerns about oil pressure were somewhat relieved when I
measure a
good 70 psi pressure at the head. The oil light was on after sitting for a
few
months. After driving it a bit, the light no longer comes on.

What a great feeling ripping out all of the unused wires and electronics
from
the gasser!
I hope to be be driving it this week!
