Just wanted some info as far as if it is worth getting these parts. I was
told of a salvage yard to go and check out for my 91 Jetta TD. On Saturday's
they have all you can carry out for just $40. I went today and found 3 N/A
diesels 84, 85, 86 two were golfs the other a Jetta. My question is would
it be worth going in and getting the injection pumps, fuel lines, injectors,
starters, alternators, and vacuum pumps off these? Don't know the condition
of the engines. They are all in tact and one even looked in really good
shape with only 98k on it. Dashes were out of the rest. On the way home I
was even considering the heads. Don't know what the cost would be for the
entire engine but it would definitely be more than $40. Besides I can't
carry the whole thing out. Would be nice if I could. I pulled the dip sticks
and they were all clean, no evidence of water on them and the coolant tanks
looked clean. The cars were not damaged body wise so I'm not sure why they
were even in there. Not much else worth getting, windows were out of the
cars and interiors were trashed the trunks were cleaned out as well. The one
thing I do need is a power steering reservoir and of course they didn't have
my style with the pump return line coming off the bottom of the reservoir.

So what do you think?

Nick
