Thanks. In my case, the doors are good, as evidenced by newspaper
laid in the door openings to see where it gets wet. Also, on this
car, there is no sunroof.
On an aside, when I first got the car, it had a whistle which was right
in front of the driver. Only whistled with an airspeed of greater than
70 MPH. Hard to get at back in the days of 55MPH limits, unless heading
into a headwind. Also, the whistle only appeared when the AC was in MAX
(recirculate) mode. This led to it taking a while to identify, and
also meant that it took several trips to the dealer, all of which were
unsuccessful.
The problem was better understood when stones flying off the top of a dump
truck on windy day, cracked the windshield. The glass shop and the
insurance company offered to fix the window with a polymer repair.
I declined, asking for a new windshield. When the old one was pulled,
there was a 2mm gap in the adhesive, on the lower windshield, in front
of the driver. Since it was obscured by trim, I never would have seen
it. The whistle disappeared.
One more note on glass shops...I've had the rear view mirror loosen and
fall off...one I caught as it let loose, the other I saw wiggling, pulled
over and "saved" before it fell. The auto glass shop here will reattach
the mirrors gratis, with their urethane foam. Nice service.
Oh, as I look at the windshield area, I see that there is some rust
from underneath forming at the windshield wiper pivot points. Is there
a body panel available for the wiper area?
