It does not show up in the old A2 bentley, but it does on the A3 manual.

It is a little heater element that comes on whenever the engine is running,
and prevents the aperature from icing up from water vapour from the crank
case. The sudden pressure drop from the small vent hose in to the big air
induction hose could cause frost build up at certain temperatures....Think
of it as sort of a "carb heater" like on carburetor aircraft.
