Subject: Parts Cleaning
Val Christian and ALL : If there was a Gold medal Olympics for
parts cleaning ---I would be a contender.
OK OK just like a lot of you I went through the phases -----the steel brush ,the scrapers
the solvents ---ah what the hell you guys know what I mean.
All was second or third best. BUT if you are down on your luck and stuck in an
apartment ---that is it.
Here is the most effective and cost effective ways. IMHO.
# 1. The boilout tank ---strong caustic and boiling hot. Simple and cheap.
# 2. Blasting has many variants. --if asked I shall explain.
# 3 . Tumbling with grit. this one is super for small parts.
# 4 . Steam or pressure washer ---good for many dirty engine blocks in place.
# 5 . Solvent soak tank ---absolutely essential. ( and cheap ).
# 6 . Old self cleaning oven --absolutely super for removing carbon from valves and things.
# 7 . Electric toothbrush and Waterpick (tongue in cheek) reference to Gavrik Peterson.
Difficult to argue with performance --so what does it for you ? use it. And if I have never tried
it or heard about it ? Please let me know. ---No do not mention Sonics.
Let us ALL know if you have a unique way of cleaning dirty diesel stuff. Especially
white T-Shirts. LOL I love that one ---no way or crossways are you going to get those
black spots of that T-Shirt. ---read my lips. It is like color fast dye.
I like to rub that one in the face of the TIDE people.
Hagar.
