[Vwdiesel] Off-topic metric vs imperial

Sort of like working on my combine. 1997 John Deere CTS, built in Germany,
sold in USA and Canada all metric fittings, with SOME parts from the US in
imperial.. have to carry the whole shop around in the field. A bearing
retainer could have an imperial or a metric allen set screw. Real PITA to
work on.
1980 Monte is a metric car... US changed over long ago. People just don't
realize it yet... heh.

You young'uns have obviously never experienced the joy of British sports
cars. SAE heads on metric, BSW or SAE threads, Whitworth (BSW) threads on
SAE, metric or BSW heads, etc. etc. As a restorer, I have to have not only
wrenches for this wretched sh1t, but taps and dies too!
