I promised to try and help these two members ---so here I am.
IMHO The cylinderhead can be fixed using epoxy. ( Chuck ).
It is common for the cam follower cup to crack during valve to piston hits
so inspect carefully with magnifier. Cracks radiating from center.
Just replace and all will be well.
The flywheel position can be a real snake of a problem -- IF you are owner # 10-.
(Dave Heart) But in your case it is most likely a simple matter of getting the belt
tight from crank to cam without the crank shifting -- piece of cake ----if you
know "HOW".
For us to help we need to know a lot of details about model and year and history.
This one is really better handled by Loren ,Ferguson,Pat Dolan or one of those other
REAL mechanics. Personally I have no such problems --I verify # 1. is tdc.
by removing # 1 . Injector and using a flat oil dipstick as a feeler. IF there is
no timing mark on flywheel then I make one. BE ACCURATE.
I use woodworkers spring clamps to hold belt in place ---(girlfriend will do) and it works
like crazy --I actually enjoy doing it. Get the belt good and tight from crank to cam.
After doing it a few times ? ----you'll see ---piece of cake.
Now I never had to loosen cam sprocket bolt --but if you do ? then crank to cam
is easy to get tight. Make sure you tighten to specks.(I use 45 foot pounds)
Remember there is a keyway but NO key.
Hagar.
PS : remember it MUST be fun to do. --yeah a bit of yelling is ok . We all need
a rant and rave attack to blow the steam time and again ? EH ?.
Lenora needs me now. --so I must go.
