A friend here in Ottawa has begun assembling his volksgen, with a 7kw
1800rpm alternator.
I hope to be doing one this winter. Pictures will follow.
Where do we post them?
We need a pixserver.

Sandy

Sandy and all : There are many good examples with detailed pictures of everything
to be found right here in archives.

A simple way to mount would be using an old half ton pick-up frame. GM or Ford.

The best way would be to find a surplus VW industrial engine (one member did just that)
It has the correct type governor all mounted.

Why do we talk so much about this ? --- because we can use all the skills and tools
we collected over the years. ---- That alone is a good reason IMHO.

Here are a few pellets that comes to mind ---- VW Beetle engines (gassers) come in two lines
VW 1.6 L NA diesel comes in two lines. Lycoming 4 cylinder Aircraft engines comes in two lines
503 Rotax comes in two lines. NO they are never identical ---but lots of parts
will fit both lines.

Val Cristian and Loren has some unusual suggestions --- that I totally agree with in technical
terms. I am for doing it on the CHEAP --so expect some weird experimenting.

Polish your WANDS guys and lets do it. Close your breakers and give her hell.

There are lots of surplus meters and relays and breaker to be had from dumpsters
and surplus stores.

More from here as the days get shorter.

Hagar.

PS : I use one Range cord 50 amps to feed the whole house -- I suggest using two
in parallel ---- I have a melt down at times. ( hate thermo plastic's).
