Yes Refrigeration compressors do come in big pistons compressors -- usually
Ammonia types.    And by the way if you are really  lucky (like me) you get
those
spun cylinders too.   Mine are Barrett  and they look like big Oxygen
bottles.

or check out truck (semi trailer) wrecking yards.  Air starters used to be
popular on big rigs, and they sucked big time, so there were a lot of tanks
for them around truck wrecking yards.  About the size of an fifty gallon
saddle tank, aluminum, and  standard fittings (npt) for connection.  I have
one for a portable-ish tank to take out in the field when I need to change a
big tire or something needing air tools and I don't have a truck with air
brakes there. (another good air source) It really outlasts the 10 gallon
portable tank I have in the shop...

Now that I think of it, no, air starters didn't suck.  They were
waaaaaaayyyy beyond sucked.
