Dan;

VW makes a little 'Pointer' p/u, I've seen them in Mexico... don't know if they put a TDI in it... but they must; they'd be dumb not to. When a Japanese so-called 'mini-truck' weighs 4000 lbs and costs $25,000... and gets maybe 25 mpg.... sure seems like there would be a market for a TDI truck.

How did you build your Jetta p/u? Do you have a picture? Did you graft a p/u bed on, or cut the rear part of the roof off and leave the rear quarter panels? There used to be kits (called 'flat-back') to put a small flatbed on the Type 1 beetle.

I know what you mean about the lumber yard; I like to strip everything out of the rabbit but the driver's seat, and load up the 2x stock on the passenger side! Haven't tried plywood sheets, yet.

Neil

I hope to find a TDI, Jetta preferred but wouldn't a Beetle be a cool >pickup as well?, with rear end damage so the price is right. So if anyone hears of a TDI on the Esat Coast or nearby >that is reasonable and banged up in the section I will be taking off anyway, let me know. Here's to more rattling pick->ups getting 40 MPG for 200K miles or more- nothing more satisfying than being at the lumber yard with 8 huge trucks >and my one little baby, all of us getting three 2x4's and one tube of caulk that we forgot! Until somebody makes >another little truck we'll just have to keep building them... See ya,... Dan.
