Loren,
I use a solid sheet metal rivet. They are available in different sizes
and make a great vacuum or fuel line plug for hoses. You can probably find them
at a good hardware store. I got mine from a sheet metal shop I used to work at
(we fabricated our own metal ducting for material handling).
