It was mentioned that before asking questions we should look at the
archives...any easy way to search them?  It looks like we have to manually
look at all the topics and guess which one(s) are relevant.

Dan Sloan and ALL :    We have no moderator here so there is no simple answer to your question.
Normally  the archives should have been set up so that Subject would rule.
So you got to smoke out the real mechanics on your own ---and you may be surprised 
how much help you get.    Start with Loren and Ferguson and pat Dolan and so on.

IMHO   your problem sounds like BLOW-BY .   but for now chase the names.
And keep asking here.     And consider yourself lucky to own a 1984 Rabbit 
not a Hummer.   I drive a 1984 Rabbit every day "Miss Bunny Bondo"   78 miles
to a gallon Imp . Never been overhauled  about 300 000 Km on clock.
Give us a bit more information about your Rabbit.
