If it's helpful, I could measure the gears from my 1.6TD in the basement. It is 
hydraulic, from an '86-88 Jetta. (the original head casting is dated '86). I suspect the 
pump I (and you) have is the 30mm version, as I recall at one point measuring gear 
lash on mine and considering upgrading to the 36mm to solve my low oil pressure 
problems. Gear lash was fine...
The EKTA suggests that the 028 115 105 G was not used in the TD until the '88 
model year - so I'm assuming this is the first use of the 36mm pump in the TD. 
Earlier TDs used the 068 115 105 AN, which is shared with the ME (1.6NA) engine. 
Starting in '88 there is also a 068 115 105 BN used on TDs with ABS, a pretty rare 
beast I imagine. The "G" pump was also used on the 1V eco diesels.
