[Vwdiesel] compression readings

I wonder what a TDI and 15" wheels would have been
like in my (long gone) '81 Scirocco. A TDI under the
hood, riding on 15" rims, would have been quite the
"extreme street machine".
I was lucky to find a new '81 program car in June '82.
I put 110,000 mi. on it. Wish I still had it.
My '81 was nimble, easy to repair, and quite lively,
even with just 85 (gasoline) horsepower. It's curb
weight was a bit under 2000 pounds.
By the time I got my 1990 Golf "Digifant", the curb
weight had grown to 2500 pounds, still on 13" rims.
It had power steering, standard. (It was "overweight")
Lots of build problems too, the quality was lacking...
My 2000 Golf TDI is a "pig" at 3000 pounds. Even so,
its TDI prime mover motivates those 3000 pounds quite
nicely. Take away 1000 pounds, remove the power steering
-- wow!
