  I've never had a whack from behind fail.  On the latter engines there's 
just a 
punch sized hole so a punch and a couple licks from a hammer and off they 
pop.  I'd try the puller you have, tension it good then hit it dead center 
with a 
sharp blow from a hammer, nothing too wimpy, be serious.  The puller will 
likely pop off but that SHOULD do it.  I have a snomobile flywheel that we 
were never able to get loose even with running it with no nut on it!
