Body shops (at least the one/s I know) use Scotch brite pads for touch
up sanding on difficult to get to areas like door jambs or to be sure you
have all of the edges that people often miss.
In the house we used to live in were mostly brass door knobs and plates.
Really nice, decorative ones. They were close to black from never being
polished. I tried about everything I could get my hands on and of all the
cleaners and polishes I could grab hold of, the Bon Ami by far made the
smoothest, brightest finish on them. Toothpaste is supposed to be a good
polish. It scratched the crap out of the Bon Ami finish!
