What I should have done: 30 ft-lbs, 44 ft-lbs, 90º, 90º. What I did:
40 ft-lbs, 60 ft-lbs, curse. I'm thinking that I wll have to remove the
(stretch) bolts and replace with new since it's overtorqued to an
indeterminate degree.
Now just think about this a minute. :) You torqued only 16 ft-lbs
over spec and then added another 180 to that. The difference in degrees
between 44 and 60 ft-lbs is what? between 5 and 10 degrees? That's
less than a 10% error. Not ideal but I don't think you need to worry
about it at all. You have another 180 to go after warm up and retorque
and then 600miles and retorque (unless your gasket doesn't do the same
as the 1.5 and 1.6 gaskets). It's a small error with stretch bolts. IMO
of course!
