Loren diagnosed me as having a bad infection of the incurable
sickness.
I am tickled pink about the way those windows roll now ---what a difference.
The rack will rust so give it lots of lubrication. Silicon grease might work
I prefer Dry Moly lube ---but oil is probably better.
On old Rabbits and maybe Jettas --- waterleaks in front are a curse. VW used steel
lugs and so on in relay panel --- rust rust and more rust. Water runs down following the wires.
Leaky windshields --and wire to windshield wiper motor is a bad set up. Use drip loops
where possible. Use silastic around grommets and wires and Speedo cables etc.
Find leaks by pressure test using a vacuum. Then apply dish soap and water to outside.
And start DA bubble machine. ----I piss myself laughing sometimes --bubbles and foam
flying all over the place. Great stuff that liquid Vel -- for slow tire leakers too.Leave on
overnight ---in the morning it will show the slowest of leaks. Palmolive spring sensations
will work too. I have industrial "Snoop" here. ---not as good as dishsoap.IMHO.
And I like the Doyt Echelberger system.
As to headbolts ? Bolts are stronger than studs ---by design. But the studs would
be my first choice. -- Alloys are sure getting strong ? 280 000 psi.
By the way are raceway studs rolled threads ?.
Well I must go and squirt oil on a bunch of rack and pinion window drives.
Hagar.
