[Vwdiesel] Hillbilly tuning --- ( the cold start knob ).

 van is running OK for a vehicle that's been sitting 2 yrs - 
improves with cold advance - stops smoking, smoothes out
so I'm guessing I need to advance the pump slightly
can you direct me to a page or site with your technique?

I Hagar sez   yes you need to advance the pump in SMALL increments say a pencil line
at the time ---till smoking stops.

And just leave knob out for now. (NO harm).

Give us as much history as you can ---remember I am not a mechanic  --BUT we do have some
mechanics here.

It looks to me like you got skinny fuel and a worn pump.  So you HAVE to go
hillbilly tuning for now.    Tell us your Dial setting and numbers on pump.

Let me WARN you that it is addictive.   If you catch on to the real  nitty gritty
of hillbilly tuning ---boy oh boy ---NO going back.    BUT go to Roger Brown home
page and look at the pumps. ------A great place to start.
