[Vwdiesel] TDI injectors

Hey all-

My dad says he's been getting about 42 MPG in his
Passat, which is okay, but seems a tad low (though it
is probably still winter fuel, so maybe not...)

With 175,000 miles, I'm wondering if the injectors are
maybe getting worn out, and contributing to the lower
mileage.

So, I'm wondering about getting them spiffed up.

Could I just buy a set of new nozzles, etc and install
them on the injectors and know that they will be
brought back up the the proper breaking pressure?  Or
is there more to it than that?

It will have to be something that can be done on a
saturday afternoon, so removing them and taking them
in to a shop for testing would be difficult.
