[Vwdiesel] TDI Timing Device Installation

I just got the TDI together tonight. I didn't, however, get it to
start. I think the fuel's not pumped up to the pump yet (though I did
use a priming bulb) or I really messed up the pump timing, which is a
very real possibility. Either case, I wanted to check public opinion on
belt tension. Now, the TDI tensioner has a pair of marks that line up
when the tensioner is set correctly, and Bentley gives a cheesy little
test (push on the belt, make sure the tensioner re-adjusts when you
press and again when you release.). The indicated marks leave the belt
really tight, according to what I'd put on my A2's timing belt. Hard
thumb pressure only deflects the belt about 1/8" (3mm) when pressed
between the camshaft and the top roller. Does that sound par for the
course? I didn't really get the chance to check mine before the job....

Thanks

-Shalyn
