[Vwdiesel] Fuel distributor leak

Going to adjust idle this afternoon, my 7 yr old son reminded me why he'll
be the natural mechanic of the family. While I was looking at the top of
the fuel distributor, he asked me if it was supposed to be dripping from
underneath. It helps to be eye level with the radiator to see that...but I
hadn't noticed the drip before. So, while waiting for my Bentley Manual to
arrive by mail, I thought I'd ask
1. what the prospects are for taking the fuel dist. Apart & rebuilding it w/
new gaskets (?)
2. Is this a common place for leaks?
3. What's the best/most economical option for replacing the fuel dist. If
it is more of a 'black box' device?
We were in a hurry to go somewhere so all I was able to do was look & see it
was dripping & see that it was *not* clear where the leak was coming from
other than the box in general. Also, the idle stop had a tamper seal on
it, so I'm guessing I should take a close look all around for vacuum leaks
before questioning the idle speed further. Make sense?
