[Vwdiesel] One notch to three

On all of the VW diesels I've ever managed to replace the head gasket
(that would be four, 3 NA and 1 TD) I've always replaced with the
thickest gasket.

Why? I've always had to pre-purchase my parts because I had to get my
car on the road in quickest order. I never could afford the time to tear
down, measure , go out and buy the 'right' gasket.

Even then, I've never noticed a change in power or economy, or starting.
But they have all been in SoCal.

I measure and calculated the difference in CR before. With a three notch
gasket, going from one to three notches only resulted in barely a 1 CR
difference, 1/2 CR per notch. Not significant in my book.
