  Sounds kinda like you have a 92C thermostat.  If it is you might be happy 
simply by changing it to an 87.  The hotter you can run it the happier 
it is, unless it gets too hot then it's none too happy.  If you're in colder 
climates higher makes for a better heater too.
  I ran the 92C for quite a while and then after a couple head gaskets 
I decided it wasn't worth it.  Especially after doing the math and seeing 
how close to 200F that really is!  Not much room for error on the 
cooling system!  I replaced the perfectly good stat with an 87C.
