[Vwdiesel] ID on inj pump?

I think the Audi/Volvo part should work on any pump, if it links to the cold
start mechanism like it sounds. I haven't been able to find a picture of it
anywhere so far. My pump with the 'load dependent solenoid' also has a
standard looking cold start linkage in the usual place - opposite the
solenoid. The one thing I have yet to determine is if the LD solenoid
receives power under load, or power under low load conditions. The guy
who sold it said I can just connect it to the fuel cutoff solenoid, which
suggests it receives power under normal load conditions, and power is
cutoff at idle & low load to retard timing. I'm hoping I can determine this
and perhaps use it to effect a slight timing advance for cold starts.
btw, the solenoid itself appears identical to the cut off solenoid.
