[Vwdiesel] Charging Problem

Hagars suggestion ---do NOT worry   ---problem is Meat on the plate --Apple Pie ---or like
I like to say --NO PROBLEMO  ---to fix  -----and cheap. -at that.

You are one of the few that I will go trough this again without saying read Archives.  If
you lived next door ? --about half an hour and I would have you going.   There are three
items  Battery ---Alternator output --and connections. ---Lets start at Do -Re-Me-
Battery-----take a twist-drill say a small one and a crock of Vaseline. make a dimpled
hole in center of post and fill with Vaseline ---immediately. Then remove clamps and sand
SAND post to they look like silver and coat with Vaseline ---immediately.   Then sand SAND
inside of clamps and coat with Vaseline --immediately. (did I promise you a Dogwood Wand
?) --Then  install clamps and TIGHT.----Then pry of covers on battery and fill with
DISTILLED water  ---NEVER NEVER city water or well water---I use Dehumidifier water --its
OK. Then you put on a small charger say overnight. --NEVER NEVER use fast charger. ---OK
next day we  test condition of Battery --by observing DRAWDOWN of terminal voltage --JA ?
the dimples. We do that by turning on a big load say starter and or headlights. Post Load
and drawdown here and I shall advise.----Then we look at alternator belt ---get it
tight ---BUT not very --then spray the hell out of pulleys and belts with a Rosin type
belt dressing.   -----. Now for drawdown ?  ---well I do a decay of voltage with NO LOAD
but a clock----first say after couple of hours. ...Then I test alternator output   with a
cheap ammeter. With all the loads on Like AC and Lights and  Ham gear and so on. If a
problem shows I go to milli-volt readings across ALL connections to ground and what
not----The German VW    electrical on Rabbits and Jettas and what not ? ---the
shits ----if you want to modify read Sandy Cameron ----Sandy and Hagar does it as a matter
of routine.----NO sense fighting that stupid STUPID VW system.

Let us know what kind of meter you are using and some readings.----looks to me like a
piece of APPLE PIE..
