I was wondering about this.  I passed a Bora on the freeway while in
vancouver... but I guess you could always just rebadge a Jetta...
It had BC plates.

I'm a little confused.  Who prevents one from purchasing any damn car abroad
they desire and paying all the taxes (which can get pretty expensive) and
bringing it in to Canada?  You must be talking about only the cars allowed
in WITHOUT taxes due to so called Free-Trade.

I know that in order to actually liscense a foregn car it must be compliant
with Canadian emission and safety requirements but cars are imported by
private citizens and then modified as the law requires all the time. In this
regard, I would think newer cars will more likely be compliant as found than
the older ones.

A car would not need compliance to sit in a collector's private display like
a museum.
