hi kids.
first off i really want to thank everyone who replied
with info on this conversion.
:o)
i have decided *not* to do it though because what i didn't know
is the gas jetta is also an automatic.
i just 'assumed' it was standard....  ;o)
so..decided it would be too much fussing for the time i had.
HOWEVER....
when i was babbling about it to my friend 
who manages the vw parts store..
he suggested he might sell me his jetta.
now ; i know ,  how meticulous this guy is..
his standards for his cars..
as ive known him for more then...20? years?
he has always been more then good to me.
anyway.
i said yes.
without seeing his car.
(i have seen it in the past.....)

so...i am now the proud owner of a 1988
TURBO diesel jetta.
im a little overwhelmed by the hi-tech of this turbo..
;o)
all those extra wires...
and the electrical scares me a bit
all its new fangled gadgets. ;o)
im so used to the simple A-1's
so..
still  keeping my 1.6 na outta old jetta for
a spare for somthing as its barely broken in....
anyway,..
im *VERY * excited.
and i cant believe how big the trunk is!!!

so.
looking forward to my first real road test
