[Vwdiesel] Fuel Tank Sabotage!

 Noticed about a-year-and-some-months-ago my Rabbit diesel was only taking max 9.2 gallons when bone dry. Down from the usual, if I remember correctly, 10.6 or so. It's appraoching 60k on the rebuild and would like to have injectors inspected, but I would like to drop the fuel tank and empty whatever it is that is occupying some of its volume. What's involved with this? The tank now has a locking fuel cap, which means on cold days the key won't turn. Need a propane torch to heat it for a second. Not good. Lock deicer won't do the trick.
