First of all, I promise that this will be the only time I overtly make
a pitch to sell these tuning boxes but I wanted to give everyone on
these mailing lists a chance to get one from me below retail cost.
After this solicitation, you can contact me off list or check the
website listed below and then contact me if you are interested. I am
the only US distributor of these tuning boxes at this time so if you
get them straight from me then you can save some money. These boxes
are for the TDI, both the older pump variety and the newer PD TDI. In
fact, I haven't run across another tuning box currently made for the PD
TDI. I have installed one in the Passat 2.0 PD TDI and I have been
very impressed. I can now lay rubber from a dead stop in this very
heavy car with an auto transmission. My wife even noticed the increase
in power when she drives it and she barely notices anything about the
car. Today, I took it out on the highway to see what effect it had on
MPG because many users, those that keep their feet out of the
accelerator, find that their fuel economy increases. On a 210 mile
highway run, I achiever 42 mpg. That is almost 4 mpg more than my
average highway mileage on the car. It was a purely highway trip,
starting with a full tank and driving north on I-35 toward Oklahoma
city for 105 miles and then returning. I drove with the cruise control
set at 70 mpg with a slight tail wind on the way up and the same as a
head wind on the way back. One stop in Oklahoma to empty the bladder.
Needless to say, I am impressed. You can check out these boxes at
www.dieseltuning.com or www.dieselpower.us. You can use the
configurator to look at you specific car. For those of you scared
about your warranty, these boxes can be installed and uninstalled in a
half an hour or so (initial install of the PD unit will take a bit
longer but is still easily disconnected) so there is nothing for the
dealer to detect. Anyway, my standing offer to anyone on these lists
is $50 off of the retail price. The current price for the standard TDI
is $349 ($299 your price) and the PD unit is $699 ($649 your price).
BTW these boxes are unlike all the others that I have seen in that they
do not require you to make any settings at all. They are entirely plug
and play. The stated changes are: for the 90hp TDI with pump - 108 hp
and 185 lb/ft of torque, for the 100 hp PD TDI - 120 hp and 212 lb/ft
of torque and for the 2.0 PD TDI - 163 hp and 296 lb/ft of torque
(actual for the 2.0 is probably a bit lower because this is based on
the 136 hp Euro model that we did not get in the US). They come
factory set but there is a single adjustment that can be played with,
please note I cannot recommend any particular setting other than the
factory, to produce more power. I currently have in my possession, a
dyno run on a 05 Jetta PD TDI that tested at 106 HP at factory specs
and pulled 165 hp at the maximum power setting on the box. The car did
eventually throw a CEL code at that setting however. I intend to have
the Passat dyno run as soon as I can. If you want more information.
Drop me a line off list at my business email:
txddieseltuning at verizon.net. BTW these are also available for Dodge,
GM/Chevy, Mercedes CDI, Sprinter, Jeep CRD and many others. So if you
have friends looking for more power from their diesels, pass the word.
Thanks, and I will not post about this again unless asked. Hayden
