I just forget the exact problem with the lock on my 88 Jetta, but I frigged
and frigged and frigged with it. Took it apart (as much as I could), then
installed it numerous times.

In the end, I went to the junkyard, gave the Dude $5.00 and came home and
installed it.

Voila! Bob was my uncle.

slamming door won't do it either.
> Mechinism needs to be heated, maybe with hair dryer, and then water
displacing juice squirted in there. Maybe need to remove latch from door to
thaw & lube proberly. I've used REMOIL wth success, even in cold.
