[Vwdiesel] Definitive frozen lock fix

Mark. Take some thin stuff, in an emergency gasline alcohol will do, and
slosh some in the door latch. What happens is the slider thingy that
operates the latch hangs up and keeps the pawl from ratcheting closed when
the door striker enters the latch.... not hooked, the pawl just moves in and
out, nothing to hook it shut. You need to lube the latches three or so
times a year with LIGHT oil, and shoot it on the latch... take off the
plastic covers (they just snap off... err...not permanently mind you) and
you can see a little hole on the side of the latch at the top. Shoot some
thin spray lube in there so it trickles down inside the latch.. like tri
flow or some other. It's kind of a stupid design, just a wee speck of
water, or any foreign substance and it sticks because the return spring
can't pull the latch to the closed position again.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said locks. I meant latches.

I just checked, the door is still hanging open out in the
parking lot. I can push the closure latch closed, but something is
preventing it from latching in that position. I can use the
key fine to run the door locks, but the door won't stay shut
when I close it.
