Well, I've been accused of being blunt before :-)  It's easy to get
distracted and take off on a tangent that consumes all your resources when
it only indirectly addresses your concern. Happens a lot at the track, and
it's easy to lose focus on the goal and spend all your time fixing the
symptoms, not the problems.  That's what makes the difference between a good
crew chief and a great crew chief- effort is expended where it has the most
benefit.

Cyanide coating is still just case hardening- with molten potassium cyanide
dip as the carbon donor applied before heating. Gives a harder surface than
just bone charcoal, but still just case hardening. (called case hardening
because you lock it in a case and then heat it)  I had always wondered about
the name...

The taxi thing went over my head, eh?

Yep that's what I call getting 'down to the bones' of the
matter.

Talkin' of bones how strong do those clips need to be? Isnt
there a cyanide compound that allows deeper migration?

The one in Canada tells you where to go and the one in
London takes you there...
