Andrew,

Doing a clutch on a VW microbus is easy. You just roll the van away from
the engine. When I was 17, I did an engine swap on I-90, with Trooper
Friendly tapping his foot. It was a hot day. He had little observable
patience.

When I was 16, I pulled the automatic xmission on the family station
wagon. Glad I had a helper.

When I do the minivan, I think I'll need help, hence the jack. On the
Jetta, though, I want to show my 16 yo daughter that these things are
readily doable. On the other hand, she's probably stronger than I am.
She works out every other day, and is one mean basketball player.

Thusfar, I have a considered vote for an ATV/motorcycle jack.

Can't have too many toys.

Val

ps: I could use an old Rabbit. I still want to make a radar stealth
Rabbit. With a TDI in it, it might go fast enough to get a ticket.
Otherwise, ear plugs and the right lane.
